The governor of Yobe state and the caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, denied the report that says he has abandoned his duty as the governor of the state.
TheCable reports that the governor said he spends at least three days in a month in the state to attend to issues related to governance.
Legit.ng gathered that while speaking in an interview with the BBC, the governor said he carries out his duties effectively even when he is not in the state.
The governor was reacting to criticism that he has been largely absent from the state since he took over as the caretaker chairman of the APC.
He, however, added that his duty in the ruling party was not hindering his efforts to discharge his responsibilities.
Governor Buni said:
“On the issue of staying, there is no way I can spend a month without spending three or four days in Yobe state. And then even if I return to Yobe, I won’t advertise or make it public that today I will be in Yobe and tomorrow I will be leaving."
“Wait, Let me land, listen to me, I won’t be revealing to the public that I came to Yobe or when I am leaving. And at this age of technology, when will anybody say that there were bunch of files waiting for me? Even before I came here I don’t know the numbers (of files I treated).”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleged that leaders in the APC were already looking beyond the current administration because they have lost hope in the Buhari regime which has three years left.

It was reported that the spokesperson for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan made the claim in a statement posted on the PDP’s Facebook page on Saturday, November 28.
He alleged that desperation to hold on to power had forced the ruling party to consider a possible change of name as well as the plotting to destabilise the PDP.
