Ogunmola Sowemimo celebrated as 1st Nigerian female pilot to fly for Qatar Airways

A lady identified as Ogunmola Sowemimo has been celebrated as the first Nigerian female Boeing 787 pilot and the first Nigerian female pilot to fly for Qatar Airways.

The chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, took to her Twitter page to celebrate Nigerian pilot.

She shared a picture of the young lady and wrote:

"Today Qatar Air operated its inaugural flight to Abuja, Nigeria. And our own Adeola Ogunmola Sowemimo was on the right seat as she assisted Captain Khan Sameer Ali. Adeola is the first Nigerian female Boeing 787 Pilot and the first Nigerian female Pilot to fly for Qatar Airways."

As some Nigerians took to the comment section to congratulate the pilot, others including former lawmaker Shehu Sani simply used the opportunity to ask Dabiri-Erewa questions about Nigerian Airways.

In other news, a video has emerged in which a female Nigerian Air Force pilot identified as Flying Officer OO Oke was spotted flying the L-39ZA.

In the video, which was posted on Twitter by @Jakepor21, Oke could be seen flying solo on the L-39ZA, becoming the first female pilot to do so in the history of 403 Flying Training School Kano.

It should be noted that female pilots in the Air Force are making history by achieving what their male counterparts have achieved.
