Nigerian lady who is a welder narrates how friends mock her because of her job

A Nigerian lady identified as Katrina Mbeytiambon has disclosed that some of her friends make fun of her because she is a welder.

Speaking with Legit TV in Calabar, Cross River state, the young lady said she became an apprentice at a welder shop after her secondary school education.

According to Katrina, she decided to go into welding because people believe it is only meant for men.

Her ambition is to own a workshop of her own and employ as many people as possible.

She said she would have been an accountant if she was not a welder, adding that she plans to send her siblings to the higher institution when she starts making money as a welder.

The young lady said:

"I work as a welder not because I don't have alternatives to go into something else but because I prefer being a welder. I've been in this job for more than a year and I've learnt.
"I can operate some of the equipment and I've been to Kwara state. I finished secondary school in 2019 and I was at home doing nothing."

She said part of the challenges she faces is handling heavy equipment at the workshp.

In other news, Amarachi Okafor "Divah", a young Nigerian lady has been celebrated on her day of graduation as she was able to set up two all-girls businesses when she was a student.

The story was shared on social media by Enugu Metropolitan Network in a heartwarming post sighted by Legit.ng on their official Twitter handle.

According to the report, Amarachi graduated from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Interestingly, the startups the brilliant young lady initiated were serving clients a car wash business and offering paint/wallpaper services, which are both male-dominated industries.

Seeing the great work Amarachi had done to combine business with studies when she was a student, social media users could not help but shower praises on her.
