APC mourns late Nasarawa state chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sadness over the death of the chairman of the ruling party in Nasarawa state, Philip Shekwor.

The party sympathized with the family of the deceased, Nasarawa state governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, APC SWC, and members over Shekwor's demise.

The ruling party who made the disclosure in a series of tweets on Sunday, November 22, urged the police and other relevant security services to fish out the perpetrators of the crime.

APC prayed for God to grant the late chairman eternal rest and those who grieve the strength to bear the loss.

Legit.ng recalls that Shekwor, was found dead after he was kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday night, November 21, at his residence along Dunamis Church, Bukan Sidi in Lafia.

A source close to the family and a leader of the APC in Nasarawa confirmed Shekwor's death.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the chairman of Esan Central local government area of Edo state, Waziri Edokpa was kidnapped.

Edokpa, a professor in the department of mathematics and statistics of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, was abducted along the Benin-Abuja Highway early hours on Friday, November 20.

Shortly after the local government chairman was kidnapped, passengers of a popular Benin-based transport company travelling to Abuja were also abducted by gunmen. The bus driver was reportedly killed.

In a related development, some unknown gunmen kidnapped a lecturer, two children and shot one person after invading the staff quarters of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria on Saturday, November 14.

The victim of the gunshot wound is receiving treatment at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital.

The incident which has been confirmed by the police command in Kaduna state happened around 10 pm.
