Group promises to mobilize Nigerians against fleeing terrorists
- A civil society organisation, Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism (CATE) has promised to support the Nigerian army in their effort to capture fleeing terrorists
- CATE said it would do anything within its power to fast-track the arrest of terrorists on the list released by the army
- According to the organisation, the capturing of the insurgents will help the Nigerian government rebuild lives of residents of the northeast

The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism (CATE) on Thursday, November 12, pledged to support the Nigerian army and the Borno state government in fast-tracking the capture of the 86 terrorists listed on the most wanted list released on Wednesday, November 11.
Speaking to journalists in Maiduguri, the group said it would do anything within its power to assist troops of the Nigerian army in their bid to capture the fleeing terrorists and their leaders, Abubakar Shekau and Abu Musa Al Barnawi.
In his address, the national coordinator of CATE, Gabriel Onoja, said capturing the wanted terrorist would provide an opportunity for the federal government and states in the northeast to rebuild their lives in earnest.
Onoja said the coalition acknowledges the role of the chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, and his resolve for the Nigerian army to bring the last of the terrorists in the country to book.
His words:
“We are pleased to note that the Nigerian Army is not resting on its oars. Since the first, second, and third editions of this most wanted terrorists’ list were published, we have seen the efficiency with which the Army captured or eliminated the criminal terrorists that have made it difficult for people in the northeast to lead productive life.”
Also noting that CATE understands that the terrorists tend to live among citizens after fleeing from the theatre of operation, Onoja said there are signs that things are changing.
He said:
“It is our belief at CATE that the 86 terrorists on this latest most-wanted list can be captured quickly if the populace cooperates with the authorities by supplying useful information that will assist the Nigerian army.”
“People should take advantage of the unanimity of technology and telephony to provide useful tips and information to the designated contacts whenever they know something that will help capture any of the wanted terrorists.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Nigerian army on Wednesday, November 11, released a new list of 86 terrorists wanted for their involvement with Boko Haram.

The army in its statement released alongside the list said the suspected insurgents are wanted for terrorist activities in the northeastern part of Nigeria.
