Many vehicles burnt as petrol tanker explodes on Kara bridge
- A petrol tanker fire gutted Kara bridge outward Berger early Saturday morning

There has been an accident at the Kara end of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A fuel-laden tanker went up in flames after Kara bridge outward Lagos.
According to the report on the official Twitter handle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Saturday, November 7, the accident which involved a loaded tanker and truck happened overnight.
It was learnt that the tanker spilled it's contents on the road and on the other truck.
Other cars were not spared as they also got burnt.
This has caused heavy gridlock as those travelling out of Lagos are held in traffic.
LASTMA officials are on ground to manage traffic situation while effort is also ongoing to remove the burnt vehicles off the road.
According to PM News report, emergency workers from Lagos were prevented from helping out by miscreants brandishing dangerous weapons.
The head of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Oluwafemi Oke Osanyitolu, said they received a distress call and responded at about 1am on Saturday.
She said:
“The joint team was waylaid on arrival by a group of miscreants brandishing weapons and was forced to seek extra police cover from the Isheri Police Station.
“The operation commenced with the police protection until the group of assailants grew larger and caused significant damage to vehicles and threats to life of our personnel."
Osanyitolu said they had to suspend the recovery operation for safety reasons.

This is not the first time, there will be a tanker explosion on the bridge. Recall that sometime in June, three tankers exploded at the Kara axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
This was announced by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) which said the accident involved three fuel tankers and one other trailer.
