As vote counting continues days after the 2020 elections in the United States were conducted, President Donald Trump has addressed Americans, accusing the electoral authorities of fraud.
In his speech on Thursday, November 5, President Trump challenged the results of the presidential election, claiming it was rigged against him, a report by DailyMail stated.
The US president accused "big media, big money and big tech" of conspiring to ensure he loses the election to his Democratic Party's challenger, Joe Biden.
Trump further claimed that if all 'legal votes' were counted, he would win the election, adding that the opposition party, the Democrats, are trying to steal the contest 'corruptly' through mail-in ballots.
The US president was quoted as saying:
"If you count the legal votes, I easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us."
Trump's allegations of fraud as vote counting is still ongoing have been condemned by many, including his colleagues in the Republican Party.
Reacting to the speech, Larry Hogan who is the governor of Maryland said no person or an election is more important than the country's democracy.
Another Republican lawmaker, Adam Kinzinger, described the speech as 'insane.'
Biden has also stated via his Twitter page that no one can take the US democracy away.
At the time of filing this report, Biden has secured 264 electoral votes while Trump is trailing with 214 electoral votes.
