The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has alleged that the enemies of Nigeria hijacked the EndSARS protests to disintegrate the country.
Ganduje made the allegation on Tuesday, October 27 when he spoke with reporters on how to keep Nigeria together, The Nation reported.
He stated that most officials initially supported the EndSARS protest which was against police brutality.
The governor, however, claimed that the enemies of Nigeria decided to take advantage of the situation to disintegrate the country.
Ganduje said:
APC caretaker chairman claims there is hidden agenda behind #EndSARS protest, reveals what leaders should do
"The initial protest was about SARS’ brutality and extrajudicial killings, which were genuine issues and most of us supported it, calling for police reformation.
“But the handwriting on the wall is now clear; enemies of Nigeria sat and decided ‘let us disintegrate this country.’ But God is with us; they did not succeed."
He said whoever prays for the disintegration of Nigeria must be a mad person, and appealed for national cohesion, beginning with the youths.
In another report, the Nigerian government has said the EndSARS protest was hijacked by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other secessionists.
The National Economic Council (NEC) made the statement shortly after its emergency meeting in Abuja on Monday, October 26, Daily Trust reported.
The NEC which is chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo blamed secessionists for continually hijacking demonstrations and causing mayhem and lawlessness across the country.
Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has alleged that the EndSARS protest was politically motivated.
Speaking on Channels TV's Sunrise Daily on Tuesday morning, October 27, the governor berated the protesters for not having a central leadership, adding that political profiteers are benefiting from it.
