Stephen Owusu: Former Ghana striker dies at the age of 37

Former Ghana striker Stephen Owusu reportedly died on Saturday, October 24, evening after a long illness.
His death was confirmed by Wazito FC who he turned out for during his stint in the Kenya Premier League, with the club mourning Owusu as a "committed and hard-working player."
"We have received with great shock the sad news of the passing away of our former striker Stephen Owusu," Wazito tweeted.
"Owusu was a committed and hard working player during his time at the club and his demise is a massive blow not only to his family but also to the football community," the club added.
Reports filtering through Ghana indicate the player passed on at 37 Military Hospital in Accra where he has been receiving treatment upon his return to the west African nation.
The burly forward started his football career with Ghanaian lower tier side Prestea Mine Stars in 2001 before he switched to Asante Kokoto in 2002.
He would later have a stints with Tunisian side Esperance Tunis and Nigeria's Sharks FC before he moved to Kenya.
His greatest highlight in Kenya was when he won the domestic top-flight title with Tusker FC in 2016 and the FKF Shield Cup.
He was among an array of players the Brewers released in 2017 after a poor campaign in 2017.
National Super League outfit Nairobi Stima are the last club he last featured for before he returned to Ghana for treatment.
His death prompted countless tributes on social media, with a number of clubs and football entities mourning him.

Nairobi Stima mourned: "We are saddened by the passing on of former @tusker_fc, Nairobi Stima and @wazitofc forward Stephen Owusu."

Owusu's passing on came barely hours after Legit.ng reported that Jeremy Wisten has been confirmed dead at the age of 18.
The late defender joined Manchester City in 2016 but left the club recently.
The cause of his death is yet to be known at the moment but tributes are already trooping in.
Man City City confirmed the development on their official Twitter handle while condoling with the family of the late defender over the weekend.
Wisten was part of the squad that won the Premier League U14 title at the end of the 2016/17 season and the Etihad Stadium club said on social media.
