Lionel Messi is prepared for Barcelona’s massive UEFA Champions League cracker against Juventus scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, and the captain hopes his rival Ronaldo will also be available.
Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for coronavirus for the second time and he is in doubt for the showdown against Barcelona.
The striker was missing when Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw by Crotone in a Serie A clash before his side defeated Dynamo Kyiv a few days later with Alvaro Morata scoring both goals.
Ronaldo was also unavailable on Sunday, October 25 in Juventus’ 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium.
According to the UEFA self-isolation guidelines, the Portuguese attacker must produce a negative coronavirus test well in advance of the game against Barcelona.
And ahead of the Champions League fixture, Messi says he wishes Ronaldo recovers as quickly as possible.
Messi told DAZN as cited in Soccer Laduma:
"Obviously when Cristiano played for Real Madrid the games were special.
"Matches against them always are (special), but with Cristiano on the pitch they took on a particular significance.
"That is now in the past and we look forward to today’s challenges. Wednesday there could be this challenge and we hope Cristiano can be there and will soon recover from COVID."
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo's lover Georgina Rodriguez is reportedly distancing herself from the Juventus striker after her coronavirus test came out negative.
The 28-year-old and their four children are staying in a different part of their mansion in Turin according to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha.
Georgina has spent more than a week living in a different part of their Turin mansion with Ronaldo.
And Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi fired blanks during Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Catalan giants Barcelona in another episode of the El Clasico on Saturday afternoon, October 24.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the Los Blancos in 2018, Messi is yet to find the back of the net against their arch-rivals with his last goal dating as far back as their 2-2 home draw during the 2017/2018 La Liga clash.
This season’s first El Clasico game saw the defending champions take a 3-1 win away from the Camp Nou in the thrilling La Liga contest.
