Barcelona began their campaign in the 2020-21 Champions League season on a winning note following a 5-1 win over Ferencvaros.

Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele got all their names on the scoresheet while Igor Kharatin scored the only goal for the Hungarian side.

La Blaugrana started the match on a strong note as Messi won a penalty off Adnan Kovacevic and the Argentine converted the resulting spot-kick to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute.

Three minutes before half time Fati made it 2-0 after collecting a defence-splitting pass from Frenkie de Jong to double the lead.

Coutinho then added the third from a deflected effort to make it 3-0. Gerard Pique was shown a straight red card for pulling Tokmac Chol Nguen inside the box.

Kharatin made it 3-1 from the spot but Pedri responded from a Dembele's assist before the Frenchman sealed the win in the 89th minute to make it 5-1.

Barcelona will host Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season at the Camp Nou as both sides will look to claim bragging rights.
