Nigerians have been warned that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak in the country might spread in the next two weeks.
Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 said this is as a result of the ongoing EndSARS protest.
Mustapha said if a test is carried out on the protesters, it will be discovered that many of those who protested at the Lekki toll plaza would have contracted the disease.
He added that a gathering which does not adhere to wearing of masks, social distancing, keeping personal hygiene and avoiding mass gatherings will end up becoming super spreader.
He said:
“So I can say with a definitive voice that two weeks from today, get everybody that congregated in those places, not only at the Lekki toll plaza, but also the Unity Fountain in Abuja but several other places, we would definitely be contending with an increase in infections, two weeks from now, and that’s why we must be extremely careful when we congregate.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the minister of defence, Bashir Magashi warned Nigerian youths not to breach the nation's security in the prolonged EndSARS protest despite making their agitations clearly known to the federal government.
Magashi made this call to the youths in a statement released by the ministry's spokesman, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Premium Times reports.
The minister gave this warning when the national coordinator of Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO), Danladi Pasali, led a delegation to the ministry in Abuja recently.
Legit.ng had also reported that an All progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Delta, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, called on Nigerian youths to put an end to the EndSARS movement since their demands have been heard by the federal government.
Thomas stated that the continued protest of the youths on the streets, despite the government's willingness to positively respond to their requests, would give room for hoodlums to hijack the situation and begin their evil activities as they had already started in some states.
