EndSARS: It's not true, no protester was killed in Lagos, CP Odumosu

- The police command in Lagos has reacted to claims that EndSARS protesters were killed in Lagos

- The police commissioner in the state, Hakeem Odumosu, denied the reports and state that instead, a policeman was killed by a stray bullet

- Odumosu noted that all the police have been doing is to protect the lives of protesters from miscreants

The police command in Lagos has claimed that no EndSARS protester was killed in the state contrary to reports that have already gone viral in the media.

This position was put forward by the police commissioner in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, during his conversation with protesters most of whom were lawyers on Tuesday, October 13, Channels TV reports.

Odumosu, rather said that what policemen have done so far is to protect protester from hoodlums who tried to take advantage of the situation.

The police commissioner explained that stray bullets hit and killed a civilian, a driver precisely, and a policeman in the Surulere part of the state.

Odumosu's words:

"The driver came out to see what caused the traffic gridlock and he was the one hit by a bullet and a police inspector. So, we lost a police inspector and a civilian.
“Two of them were not even part of the protesters so there’s no single protester in Lagos that has been killed as far as I am concerned. None! If you have, tell me the incidence, tell me the rank, tell me the name, there is none.”

Earlier, Odumosu on Tuesday, October 13, told EndSARS protesters among whom were lawyers that the command had withdrawn live ammunition from officers of the unit.

Moreover, the police commissioner in Lagos revealed that in line with the IGP's directive, the offices of SARS in the state had been shut down.

Even more, Odumosu promised the protesters that henceforth, they would not find personnel of the squad operating in Lagos anymore.
