Yemisi Yekini who is the first daughter of former Super Eagles striker Rashidi Yekini has taken to social media to celebrate her late father who scored Nigeria's first goal at the World Cup.

Rashidi Yekini was one of the best strikers in the world during his active playing days considering his achievements in the national team and all the clubs he played for.

The former Shooting Stars of Ibadan striker died on May 4, 2012 in Ibadan after he was reported to have been sick by his family and was taken to unknown place for treatment.

Yekini's death came as a shocking one for all Nigerians and his body was taken to his hometown which is Ira in Kwara state for burial.

Yemisi who lives in the United Kingdom with her mother wrote below.

''Today, I would like to celebrate my dad, who was one of the greatest footballers to come out of Nigeria. Rashidi Yekini.''

Rashidi Yekini actually had four daughters and his second born known as Yemi recently graduated from the University of Ilorin where she read English and she is currently observing NYSC.

Yekini scored 37 goals as a Nigeria international and represented the West African nation in five major tournaments including two World Cups.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Lawyer Jibril Mohammed Olanrenwaju who represented late Super Eagles striker Rashidi Yekini has accused the mother of the deceased for masterminding his abduction which led to his death.

The untimely death of Rashidi Yekini still remains a nightmare for all football fraternities in the the world considering how the goal king died.

After retiring from football, Rashidi Yekini was living alone in his mansion in Ibadan, Oyo state in which he isolated himself from all family members.

Many of his family members in his town Irra in Kwara state had the thoughts that the late Super Eagles star was insane with claims that he used to burn money and his properties.

While speaking with Legit.ng exclusively, lawyer Jibril Olanrewaju stated that his former client and friend was not insane stressing that his mother and other siblings ganged up to kidnap him.
