Just a few months to the presidential election, the president of the United States (US) Donald Trump, and his wife have tested positive for coronavirus.

The outspoken US president revealed his health status on his verified Twitter page on Friday, October 2.

He tweeted:

"Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"

The fact that the US president is 74 puts him at risks of developing complications from the dreaded virus that has ravaged the country already.

However, a White House doctor, in a statement reported that the duo, who have been quarantined, are in a stable health condition.

Earlier, there was a report that Hope Hicks, Trump's counsellor, got infected with the pandemic after her recent trip with the president on Air Force One.

Before this, Trump had said that he tested for coronavirus following his contact with two people who had tested positive for the deadly virus.

The US president made the disclosure during a press conference on Saturday, March 14. Legit.ng gathers that the US president said he was tested for the virus on Friday, March 13, adding that the result would take one or two days before it came out.

Trump also disclosed that his temperature was normal when it was taken on Saturday before entering the White House briefing room.

He admitted that he decided to go for the test due to the pressure from the press. Legit.ng previously reported that Jair Bolsonaro, the president of Brazil, tested positive for coronavirus, just some days after his meeting with Trump in Miami.
