Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the factional State Executive Committee of the APC in Ekiti state suspended Governor Kayode Fayemi.
A statement by the faction signed by Senator Tony Adeniyi, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and others accused Governor Fayemi of numerous anti-party activities.
The APC SEC declared another faction of the party led by Paul Omotosho as illegal, saying the faction has also been suspended.
Governor Fayemi was accused of working against the APC in the recently concluded governorship election in Edo state.
However, the national leadership of the APC dismissed the purported suspension of Governor Fayemi and other party members by the faction.
The national secretariat of the APC in a statement on Friday, September 25, described the purported suspension as a nullity.
According to the statement which was signed by the APC spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, Governor Fayemi remains the leader of the party in Ekiti state.
Nabena urged APC members in Ekiti to support the ongoing amicable and rancour-free settlement of internal party disputes.
