Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari has said the COVID-19 pandemic is a sign that God is not happy with mankind.
Aisha made the statement on Friday, September 25, at the national mosque in Abuja, The Cable reported.
She told the audience at the 60th independence day public lecture and special Juma’at prayer held at the mosque that Nigerians should pray to God for the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The First Lady said:
“The world is no longer the same as a result of the pandemic and the pandemic is a sign that almighty God is not happy with us.
“We need to pray for forgiveness. I think we have no choice than to continue asking for forgiveness from Almighty Allah.”
The Daily Trust newspaper also reported that Aisha at the occasion urged leaders to always ensure justice to all.
She said the president needs the support and cooperation of all Nigerians to fulfil his change mantra.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that some states in Nigeria might witness a more devastating second wave of the coronavirus disease.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) warned that the non-compliance to COVID-19 health guidelines could spike the second wave in Adamawa and other states in the country.
In another news report, Nigeria has recorded 135 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic as Lagos and Ogun states had 41 and 27 respectively.
Rivers state recorded 19 cases while it was followed by Abia state which has 10. Oyo and Plateau states recorded 6 cases each as Bauchi and Ondo states have 5 and 5 respectively.
