El-Rufai says he is consulting epic book on the selection of Emirs of Zazzau

The Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai has given an update about the ongoing process of selecting a new Emir of Zazzau.
Legit.ng recalls that the former Emir of Zazzau, Shehu Idris, died on Sunday, September 20, at the age of 84.
The Kaduna state government has declared three days mourning for the late monarch.
However, the Zazzau emirate and the state government have already commenced the process of selecting a new emir.
El-Rufai disclosed in a tweet on Thursday, September 24, that he is awaiting the recommendations of the Zazzau Emirate kingmakers regarding the matter.

The governor also disclosed that he is doing some reading on his own to guide him in selecting the new emir.
He disclosed that he is reading Prof M G Smith’s book on the selection of Zazzau Emirs from 1800 to 1950 ahead of the decision making.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's former president, Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed how the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, assisted him when he served as the number one citizen of the country.
The former president made the revelation on Wednesday, September 23, in Zaria, Kaduna state, during the prayer organised for the late emir, Nigerian Tribune reported.
He explained that the reign of the late emir coincided with his time as head of state and that when he came back as president, the late emir assisted him.
In another news, Goodluck Jonathan led a delegation to Kaduna state to pay his respect to the late Emir of Zazzau.
Jonathan was accompanied on the visit by the former vice president, Namadi Sambo, and Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state among other dignitaries.
