As the United States prepares for the November 2020 presidential election, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, has highlighted the crucial role the African American community can play.
The former US vice president said that in terms of voting, "the African American community can determine this election".
Biden also stressed the importance of voting in the black community and how it is important to safeguard against voter suppression.
Appearing on The Steve Harvey Morning Show on Wednesday, September 23, Biden also spoke on his plan for black America, voter suppression and other issues.
He said:
"Although I've been deeply involved in the Civil Rights movement my whole life. I come from the state with the 8th highest black population of any state in the nation.
"I still don't, fully, fully, appreciate exactly how tough it is and that fact is, one of the most important things to do is put black men and women in the position where they can accumulate wealth.
"Where they're in a position where they begin to actually have the place in the community, where as a people across the board, they grow the middle class."
The Democrats' candidate will be slugging it out with President Trump and candidate of the Republican party who is seeking re-election for second term.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Biden is ahead of President Trump in most national polls being conducted since the beginning of 2020.
The Democrat's presidential candidate has hovered around 50% in recent months and has had a 10-point lead on occasions.
