NCDC announces 111 cases of Covid-19, total now 57,724

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 111 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 57,724.

The new cases which were announced by the disease control agency on Wednesday night, September 23, were recorded in 12 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Legit.ng notes that Lagos leads the chart with 31 cases while Gombe and Kaduna follow with 18 cases each.

So far, Nigeria has recorded 57,724 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 48,985 recoveries and 1,102 deaths, according to the NCDC data.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the federal government on Monday, September 21, said that the sum of N32 billion had been released to state governors to fight the novel coronavirus pandemic in their domains.

This was reportedly disclosed by the national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu.

He said the PTF had released N1bn each to 32 state governors for the purpose of driving the COVID-19 response.

In another report, the federal government called for more vigilance on the possible resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic as some states announce schools resumption.

The warning was given by the secretary to the government of the federation and chairman of the Covid-19 PTF, Boss Mustapha.

Mustapha noted that the scientific community have tried to explain some new manifestation of COVID-19 spread, but lamented that the nation continues to observe a reversal of gains in the battle mostly in countries around Europe.
