Prof Abba Isa Tijani has been appointed as the director-general of National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM).
Tijani's appointment as the new NCMM DG was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari who also made the renowned academician the agency's chief executive.
A professor of museology and anthropology, Tijani is the former University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID)'s head of the department of Fine Arts. He was also a former coordinating head of the department of creative arts.
Abbah, prior to his federal government appointment, was the acting director of University of Maiduguri's Centre for the Study of Cultural Sustainability (CSCS).
He was also the executive board of director and head of Nigeria DAAD-funded project, SDG Graduate School “Performing Sustainability: Cultures and development in West Africa."
Tijani's appointment has been described as well-deserved and a good move for the NCMM.
Meanwhile, in a collective effort towards improving the electricity supply nationwide, President Buhari approved the appointment of some top members of the executive cabinet into the Special Purpose Vehicle for Presidential Power Initiate (SPVPPI).
The appointment was approved by the president on Thursday, September 10, as contained in a statement from the office of the Ministry of Justice.
Members of the committee include the attorney general of the federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), the minister of finance, budget, and national planning, Hajia Zainab Ahmed.

In related news, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari on Tuesday, August 11, appointed Adamu Adaji as the director-general of the National Boundary Commission (NBC).
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, Adaji's appointment took effect from Friday, August 7.
NBC's head of information, Ovuakporie Efe, disclosed that the appointment will last a duration of four years.
