Edo governorship: Idia Ize-Iyamu says her husband is going to win

Idia Ize-Iyamu, the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate has expressed the confidence that her husband will emerge victorious in the Edo governorship election.
Speaking with the press at her polling unit on Saturday, September 19, she said knows her husband, Osagie Ize-Iyamu would win the election.
"We know we are going to win," she said in a video uploaded by The Nation newspaper.
Idia explained that she is confident of victory because Ize-Iyamu campaigned across the wards and senatorial districts in the state.
She said they are very optimistic about securing a victory in the election.
In another report, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that card readers are not working in areas considered to be Governor Godwin Obaseki's stronghold in the ongoing governorship election in Edo state.
A statement issued on behalf of the party by Governor Obaseki's media aide, Crusoe Osagie, stated that "There is deliberate election manipulation in areas where the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki is popular
Osagie said there is a coordinated attempt to disenfranchise voters who are his principal's loyalists in his strongholds.
Meanwhile, some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have refused to attend to people who came to cast their ballots at the Edo governorship election
The officials at Ivbiyeneva primary school RAC ward 5 Ikpabo-okha local government area (LGA) told the AIT News that they decided to abandon their duties because they have not been paid stipends by INEC.
Some voters who came to polling units were seen standing without any electoral official attending to them.
Still on politics, the Rivers state chapter of the PDP has accused the Nigeria Police Force of laying siege on Governor Nyesom Wike's hotel in Benin.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the PDP chairman in Rivers state, Desmond Akawaor and sent to Legit.ng.
Part of the statement read: "In a breach of the pledge they made security agencies have decided to harass and intimidate Governor Wike who has not done any wrong.
