A political movement known as BAT project 23 has urged a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest for president in the 2023 general elections.
The group, which coined its name from the initials of the politician, said Tinubu is qualified to serve as president judging from the achievements recorded during his tenure as governor of Lagos state, Leadership reported.
BAT project 23 which claimed to have members in the 36 states of the federation argued that Tinubu can replicate his achievement in Lagos for the whole country if given the opportunity to lead Nigeria.
“Tinubu is a leader who transforms nothing into something and feeds his people from the riches of what has been so transformed," the national coordinator of the BAT project 23, Umar Yakubu Inusa said.
The coordinator speaking at the group’s conference stated that the APC leader is a politician who puts national interests above his personal interests.
A spokesperson for the BAT project 23, Prince Emmanuel Ikusagbe explained that the movement is composed of people who believe that Tinubu has the capacity to turn the country around and bring the desired change.
“Nigeria needs a man that can change things for good; reposition the economy, drive social welfare and secure the country. BAT is the man for the job,” he said.
Meanwhile, Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia state, has revealed his grand plan for Nigeria if he becomes the president in 2023.
The former chief whip in the Senate told journalists in Umuahia, the state's capital, that if granted the opportunity to take over the presidential seat, he will build a 20th-century economy for the country, The Sun reported.
He pointed out that not many persons are capable of doing the job and that for him, he is more pre-occupied on developing his constituency.
