Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that oppositions will not be given any chance during the forthcoming Ondo guber election.
The former Lagos state governor also added that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is dead in the state and further declared that the party will be finally nailed in a coffin during the election.
The governorship election in Ondo has been scheduled for October 10 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Governor Rotimi Akeredoulu, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the ruling party, will have to face his embattled deputy governor Agboola Alfred Ajayi and his familiar foe Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) and a host of other party candidates.
Speaking during the take-off of the campaign rally in Akure on Saturday, September 5, Tinubu called for unity among aggrieved party members in the state.
He emphasised that it is through harmony the party can defeat other political contenders including Agboola and Jegede.
“You don’t fight the PDP. There is no point fight a corpse inside the coffin, just settle down and calmly nail their coffin.
“Unity and adherence to collective purpose are hallmarks of progressive politics. Our ability to place the public welfare above our personal ambitions is what differentiates us from the political progressives who would rather that the general welfare suffer so they can fulfil their personal whims and wishes," Tinubu said.
The APC national leader also commended Akeredolu for bringing development to Ondo state, saying the governor has done works than the talks.
"The Governor came on board in 2016, he has had his hands on the plough, recording one milestone after another," Akeredolu said.
