The Nigerian government has given approval to the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to start making preparations for the reopening of orientation camps nationwide.

The approval was given by the presidential taskforce on COVID-19 on Thursday, September 3, The Nation reported.
Dr Sani Aliyu, the national coordinator of the task force said the government was developing strict measures to ensure there is no outbreak of COVID-19 infections when NYSC camps reopen.
“For the National Youth Service Corps, the NYSC is to consolidate on safety measures currently being put in place and start preparing for the reopening of orientation camps when educational institutions open," he said.
“We are in the process of developing strict guidelines to ensure there is no outbreak of Covid-19 when this process starts.”
Meanwhile, the management of the NYSC has said it will reopen orientation camps for prospective corps members as soon as the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 gives it the directive to do so.
Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, the director-general of the NYSC made the statement during the inspection of some facilities destroyed by a wind storm in Gombe state, The Tribune reported.
He urged graduates who are waiting to be mobilised for the scheme not to be agitated.
In another news, the Nigerian government has made some adjustments to the nationwide curfew which was put in place to restrict movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The presidential task force on COVID-19 on Thursday, September 3, announced that the curfew will now begin from 12am to 4am and no longer 10pm to 12am as formerly observed.
Dr Sani Aliyu, the national coordinator of the taskforce on COVID-19, made the announcement during a briefing at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, Channels TV reported.
