Ebonyi LG poll: PDP clears all chairmanship, councillorship positions

- All local government chairmanship seats and available councillorships in Ebonyi state have been won by the PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won big in Ebonyi state as all its candidates in the local government election recorded victory even without the declaration of the figures of the results.

According to PM News, all PDP candidates were declared winners of all chairmanship seats in 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and councilorship positions in 171 electoral wards in the polls conducted on Saturday, August 29.

Legit.ng gathered that the results were announced by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), chairman Jossy Eze, on Sunday, August 30.

Eze when announcing the results of the elections declined to reveal the figures of the results instead he adopted the chairmanship results for the LGAs as announced by various returning officers.

The Ebonyi state PDP chairman, Onyekachi Nwebonyi, commended EBSIEC for conducting a hitch-free election and all stakeholders who contributed to its smooth conduct.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that members of the PDP in Taraba won all the elective positions at the local government election in the state. PDP cleared all 16 chairmanship and 168 councillorship positions in the state.

Similarly, PDP recorded another victory in the local government council elections in Cross River state, held across 18 councils and 196 electoral wards.

The party won in all the 18 councils of the state in the election held on Saturday, May 30.

The results were declared by Mike Ushie, the chairman, Cross River Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), at a press briefing on Sunday, May 31.

Ushie said the PDP won in the following local government areas Akamkpa, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Etung, Ikom, Obubura, Odukpani, and Yakurr.

In other news, the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a landslide victory in the Ondo local government election which held on Saturday, August 22.

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) announced that the APC won the 18 chairmanship seats in all the local government areas of Ondo state.

The chairman of ODIEC, Prof Yomi Dinakin said the candidates were declared winners in accordance with the provisions of the law.

He disclosed that of the 18 winners released, five local government area chairmanship positions were returned unopposed.
