Airline reveals identities of Lagos helicopter crash victims

- The airline that owns the helicopter that crashed in Lagos has given a public statement on the accident

- The firm, Quorum Aviation Limited, said that the victims were crew members who have been confirmed dead

- The company said that the third victim has been rushed to the Lagos Teaching University Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment

The owner of the helicopter that crashed in Lagos on Friday, August 28, Quorum Aviation Limited, has revealed the identities of the victims of the massive disaster that has already brewed a lot of reactions in and outside the state.

Quorum Company in a statement said that the victims were crew members who have been confirmed dead, The Nation reports.

The aviation firm also disclosed that the third victim has been taken to the Lagos Teaching University Hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja for immediate treatment.

Part of the statement by the company read: “As soon as we received news of the accident, we promptly informed the aviation authorities, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

“Preliminary reports indicate that of the three souls on board – all crew, two of the crew members lost their lives whilst the third one is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

“We have been made to understand that nobody in the building, nor in the vicinity was injured for which we are grateful."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a helicopter crashed into a private house at Opebi area of Lagos. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said rescuers on their way to the scene.

Confirming the incident, the chief press secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state said the helicopter crashed into a private house at Opebi area of Lagos.

Akosile said two people have been confirmed dead while one person who was seriously injured has been taken to the hospital. The chief press secretary also confirmed that Lagos state emergency services are on ground.

Also, President Muhammadu Buhari had commiserated with families, friends and associates of victims of the crashed helicopter.

A statement issued by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity in Abuja on Friday, August 28, after the crash, noted that the nation awaited report of an investigation into the accident by aviation regulatory agencies.
