Celebratory posts and birthday messages have been pouring for Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as he recently turned a year older.
The former head of state on August 18, turned 79 and amongst many others, was celebrated by his daughter, Aisha Babangida.

She took to her official Instagram page to share a lovely photo of her father posing with several birthday cakes. She described him as the 'godfather of all' and prayed for more blessings upon his life.

She wrote: "From The Godfather of all. My father has been keen to our growth and productivity. Today we celebrate him on his birthday and pray God Almighty continues to strengthen him, protect him..... our love for him is stronger than ever reason we pray for a healthy longer life for him."

Popularly known as IBB, Babangida is a Nigerian general and statesman who served as military president of Nigeria from 1985 until his resignation in 1993.
He also served as the Chief of Army Staff from January 1984 to August 1985.
