It is painful that this is Nigeria where someone without a certificate is the one now asking Edo people to not to vote for a person who is a confirmed graduate, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has lamented.

Wike said this while slamming Adams Oshiomhole, recently removed as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for accusing Godwin Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo of having no certificate.

The Rivers governor also claimed that Oshiomhole had proven that the APC cannot win the election because of his declaration that if the party loses, it will claim victory through the courts.

Wike said Oshiomhole has no moral right to ask the people of the state not to vote for Obaseki because he does not have a secondary school certificate.

According to Wike, this is the same Oshiomhole that has no certificate apart from a trade test, which cannot be taken as equivalent to a school certificate.

Oshiomhole reportedly made the allegation against Obaseki during the flag-off of the APC campaign in Edo state at the weekend.

Wike, however, noted that apart from the fact that the University of Ibadan affirmed that Obaseki graduated from the institution, Oshiomhole had, himself, told the world that the governor was the brain behind the success of his administration.

“It is unfortunate that we are in a country that somebody that does not have a certificate will question the one that has.

“Oshiomhole has trade test which is not an academic qualification. I challenge him to show the world his academic qualification.

“This same man he said has three credits was his brainbox when he was in government. So is it not better for Edo people to support a man that has three credits than to follow someone whom he said was a cultist and fake pastor who destroyed the manhood of his fellow man," Wike said.

Wike said Oshiomhole was trying to tell Edo people that whatever he decides is what will be, but added that this is an opportunity for them to say no.

"His claim that if APC loses the election they will secure the mandate through the courts is a total confirmation that the party cannot win the Edo election through the ballot box.

“Securing victory through the courts will be null and void as there are still Judges in Nigeria with a conscience who cannot dance to the tune of the APC,” he added.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the PDP recently aired its opinion as to why the APC national leader, Bola Asiwaju Tinibu, is angry with Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo.

According to a statement by the PDP's national spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, published on Saturday, August 8, the APC leader is at odds with Obaseki because he refused to follow the orders of the cabal in the ruling party.
