Following the call for the sack of service chiefs in the face of the current security challenges, the governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi has urged Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari not to listen to the call.

According to Daily Trust, Governor Umahi explained that the Nigerian leader should increase the funding and logistics of the service chiefs to aid their performance rather than contemplating to relieve them of their duties.

Umahi while noting this praised the Army for their gallantry and dedication, adding that their assignment was not an easy task.

It would be recalled that senators on Tuesday, July 21, asked the president to sack the nation’s service chiefs and also called for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu.

The lawmakers made the demands in their respective contributions to the discussion on the security situation in the country during plenary.

The senators said the service chiefs should be replaced since they do not have new ideas in fighting insecurity, adding that the top hierarchy of the military should brief its relevant committees on the factors militating against its operations to find a way forward.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the service chiefs have begun a total rejig of the security structure in order to bring a lasting solution to the aggravating insecurity situation in the country following the directives of President Buhari.

President Buhari hailed the security chiefs for offering their best in the fight against insecurity in the country.

The president gave directives for the overhauling of the total security architecture and mandated the security chiefs to come up with a new strategy against the menace of bandits and insurgents.
