Coronavirus: Schools reopening may lead to spike in Covid-19 cases - PTF
- PTF said the total reopening of schools will be considered in its sixth interim report
- Boss Mustapha who is the PTF chairman, however, said the reopening of schools is still generating concern and great worry

The federal government said it is still worried over the reopening of schools as students in graduating classes are set to resume in preparation for the mandatory examinations.
Speaking during the presidential task force on Covid-19 briefing, Boss Mustapha, who is the chairman of the coronavirus response team, made this known in Abuja.
Mustapha said there is no iota of doubt that schools will greatly contribute to the community transmission of the infection when all students resume back to classes.
According to him, stakeholders in the education sector must ensure that the agreed safety measures are put in place and protocols strictly adhered to.

On total school reopening, Mustapha said the PTF will submit its sixth report to President Muhammadu Buhari and his approval will indicate what next in the fight against the Covid-19 crisis.
He also said that the response team will continue to guide the adoption of sector-specific guidelines and protocols and meet with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on elections scheduled to hold in some states amid coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Ministry of Health has cautioned against the "second wave of Covid-19 pandemic" which it said will be disastrous to the economy of the country and lives.
Speaking during the Covid-19 presidential task force briefing on Monday, August 3, Dr Sani Aliyu who is the coordinator of the committee gave the warning.
Sani urged "businesses that are reopening to align themselves" with the safety protocols and guidelines of the coronavirus.
Nigeria's Covid-19 hit 44,129 confirmed cases on Monday with 20,663 recoveries and 896 deaths after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 288 new cases in 15 states.
This means the collective efforts of the governments across all levels are yielding results and the PTF has called for caution against a second surge.
