The Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has urged the people of Edo state to reelect Governor Godwin Obaseki for resisting godfatherism.
Wike made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s sunrise daily show on Tuesday, August 4, in Port Harcourt.
The governor also accused the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole of enslaving the people of Edo state.
The Rivers governor stated that his Edo counterpart had sometimes said he was a governor but not a governor.
He alleged that Oshiomhole dictated every appointment in Obaseki’s administration before the governor resisted him.
Wike pointed out that Oshiomhole had in 2016 said the Osagie Ize-Iyamu was not electable because he could not be trusted with money, only to turn round and campaign for the same person he had criticised.
Meanwhile, Adams Oshiomhole on Monday, August 3, revealed that he was removed from office because he stepped on powerful toes. The former chairman of the ruling party disclosed this during an appearance on Arise News morning show.
While answering questions on the breakfast programme, Oshiomhole noted that he has no regrets about his actions as APC national chairman and the decision of the president to sack the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
He added that he would fight the same forces that sacked him as the ruling party's chair if given a second chance.
In another report, Oshiomhole has come hard on Godwin Obaseki saying the Edo governor is not a threat to the ruling party's quest to win Edo state election.
Oshiomhole and Obaseki fell apart with the political feud between the former godson and his mentor forcing the latter to resign his membership of the ruling party.
With less than two months to the Edo guber election, Oshiomhole seems to have heightened the political rivalry with Obaseki who is the PDP's candidate.
