The governor’s aide claimed the main goal of the APC chieftain is to become the ultimate godfather of Edo politics.

Osagie pointed out that Oshiomhole became the political foe of Obaseki when the governor refused to allow him to dictate affairs of the state.

In another report, Oshiomhole said he regrets making Obaseki succeed him as the governor of Edo state. Oshiomhole who is the immediate past governor of Edo state made the statement on Sunday, July 19, at his residence in the state, Vanguard reported.

The politician said he made a grave mistake by bringing Obaseki as his successor in 2016, but stated that the bad heads in the APC are gone following the defection of the governor and deputy to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oshiomhole told a crowd of party supporters that he was in the state to ensure the victory of the APC in the Edo governorship election.

Meanwhile, ahead of Edo state governorship election slated for September 19, the camp of Governor Obaseki who is the candidate of the PDP and his APC opponent, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, are reportedly engaging in a fresh face-off over sponsorship of thugs, cultists and other criminals.

The Nation reports that Ize-Iyamu on Monday, July 20, at a news conference in Benin, through the publicity secretary of the APC in the state, Chris Azebamwan, alleged that Obaseki did not bother about campaigns, but was recruiting, training and arming thugs, cultists and other criminals to disrupt the campaign and the election.

Legit.ng gathered that he said the PDP, represented by Obaseki was beginning to go beyond acceptable means and measures for the election.
