Gunmen kidnap former lawmaker, police command’s chief imam in Taraba

A former senator in Taraba state, Zik Sunday, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. The former lawmaker was kidnapped in his village on Saturday, July 11.
Daily Trust reports that a source stated that the gunmen forced their way into Senator Sunday’s house and took him away to an unknown location.
Sunday is a big farmer in the area and probably the criminals abducted him because of his farming activities, a source reportedly said.
Legit.ng gathers that the abductors have not yet contacted the family of the victim.
Similarly, the chief imam of Taraba Police Command, Mallam Mustapha Nuhu, has also been abducted.
Daily Trust reports that gunmen numbering 10, broke into the residence of Nuhu at Nana Aisha quarters midnight and abducted him.
The cleric, a police officer serving with the Taraba state police command, reportedly preached against increasing rates of crimes, especially kidnapping in the state during a Jummat sermon on Friday, July 10.
The abductors of the cleric are also yet to make contact with his family.
The spokesperson of Taraba police command, DSP David Misal, confirmed the abduction of Senator Sunday, adding that efforts were being made to rescue him.
Misal, however, said he did not have details of the cleric’s abduction.

In a related development, unknown gunmen have kidnapped the daughter of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Gimba Salihu Bako.
Bako's daughter, Hasiya Gimba, was said to have been abducted by armed men suspected to be kidnappers in Chiji community in Abaji area council of the FCT.
The incident was confirmed by Alhaji Gimba, who was a chairmanship aspirant during the last area council election.
The APC chieftain explained that on Monday, July 6, he received a call around about 2.30am from his in-law that his daughter had been kidnapped.
According to him, unknown gunmen invaded his in-law’s house at Chiji village, took money from occupants of the house before taking his daughter away.
DSP Anjuguri Manzah, the spokesman of the FCT Police Command, said the incident was being investigated and assured that the victim would be rescued unharmed.
