Governor Okowa's daughter tests positive for COVID-19

- One of the daughters of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has tested positive for COVID-19

One of the daughters of the governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Legit.ng reports that the sad news was broken in the morning of Friday, June 26, by the governor on his Twitter page.

Governor Okowa said he and his family would go into isolation for 14 days in line with the laid down procedures of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), adding that the public would be updated about the development.

He tweeted: "Earlier today, Edith and I received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for #COVID19. Hence, in-line with the laid out procedures, we are both going into isolation for the next 14-days. We will continue to keep you all updated."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the special adviser on communication and strategy to Abiola Ajimobi, the late ex-governor of Oyo state, Bolaji Tunji, penned down a tribute in honour of his late boss.

It was reported that Ajimobi, who was the immediate past governor of Oyo state, died in Lagos on Thursday, June 25, from complications arising from COVID-19.

Tunji, in a tribute published on his Facebook page on Friday, June 26, revealed how the politician made a journey of no-return from Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, to Abuja, the nation's capital.

In another report, the central collective response against the coronavirus crisis was on Thursday, June 25, deflated as Nigeria recorded 594 new cases of Covid-19 in 21 states.

This was contained in the report of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which brings the total confirmed infections to 22,614.

The disease control agency reported fresh 159 cases in Lagos which is the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria with 9482 cases. This amounts to about 49% of the total cases nationwide.

NCDC also announced new 106 cases in Delta state, followed by Ondo with 44 cases, Edo state with 34 and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 34 cases.

Oyo and Kaduna states have new 33 cases each, Enugu has 28, Katsina has 25, Imo has 22 Adamawa states has 15 new cases while Ogun has new 12 cases.

Osun state has 11 cases, Abia has 11, Rivers has 6, Nasarawa, Bauchi and Niger states have 5 cases each. Kebbi has 4 cases, followed by Ekiti with 3 cases.
