1. Assassin's Creed Odyssey (431–422 BC)

2. Assassin's Creed Origins (49-43 BC)

Origins brings to light how the Brotherhood was born. In the plot, Layla Hassan looks onto the story of Bayek of Siwa, a medjay of Egypt.

At the start of the game, Bayek has lost his purpose after the loss of his son and is on a revenge mission to kill the men who led to the death of his son. 3. Assassin's Creed Valhalla (873 AD)

Valhalla is the newest Assassin's Creed game in the series. Set in the age of the Vikings, the player and his clans are trying to settle in England after leaving Norway.

The upcoming game will feature a very cinematic and brutal fight between the Vikings and the Saxons. The main character is Eivor, and players can choose whether they prefer Eivor to be male or female.

4. Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles (1190 AD)

Of all Assassin's Creed games, Altair's Chronicles is one of the most popular video games in the series. The plot follows Altair during the war between the Crusaders and the Saracens for control of Jerusalem.

After arriving back in Jerusalem, Altair is tasked with the mission to find the chalice. According to legend, whoever finds and controls it will have the power to stop the crusade, ending the war and uniting the warring factions.

5. Assassin's Creed (1191)

Released on 13th November 2007, it was the first game in the series. The plot follows Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, a killer who is forced by his superiors to eliminate nine people to redeem himself after a botched mission.

6. Assassin's Creed II (1476)

Set during the Italian Renaissance, it is the first game in the Ezio Auditore da Firenze trilogy. Ezio makes his way all over Italy, exacting revenge on all the politicians who killed his father and brothers.

Throughout his journey, he meets famous historical figures such as Niccolò Machiavelli and Leonardo da Vinci, and they all fight against a coup on the Medici Family.

Ezio's story is continued in 1491 in Assassin's Creed II: Discovery and later in 1506 in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

7. Assassin's Creed: Revelations (1511 AD)

The plot follows the stories of Desmond, Altaïr, and Ezio. In the past, Ezio is in Constantinople, where he finds a relic that helps him look into Altaïr's memories.

In the present day, Desmond is locked in a coma in the Animus 2.0. He has to use his famous ancestor's memories to get himself out of the comatose state.

8. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China (1526)

The game follows protagonist Shao Jun. Shao, who was trained by Ezio, makes her way back to her homeland to exact vengeance against the Templar group that wiped out the Chinese Brotherhood.

She eventually rebuilds the Brotherhood, becomes a mentor, and eventually kills Emperor Jiajing of the Ming dynasty by sending him a vial of mercury disguised as an elixir of life.

9. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (1713 -1722)

The game takes place in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, and it follows protagonist Edward James Kenway. Edward unwittingly finds himself caught up in a war against the Templars searching for 'The Observatory.'

He goes on a mission to find the observatory and has to fight against friends turned enemies and the Templars.

10. Assassin's Creed Rogue (1752-1760 AD)

The story is during the Seven Years' War. It follows Shay Patrick Cormac, who, after being betrayed by his Brotherhood, joins the Templars and seeks out his revenge.

Throughout the game, Cormac meets American historical figures like Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Haytham Kenway, among others.

11. Assassin's Creed III (1754-1783 AD)

The plot is set during the American Revolution, and it follows a man named Ratonhnhaké:ton, also known as Connor. He is the son of Haytham Kenway and Shay Patrick's grandson.

12. Assassin's Creed: Liberation (1765 - 1780 AD)

The story is set in New Orleans, and it is one of the few Assassins Creed games with a female protagonist. The plot follows the French-African hitwoman Aveline de Grandpré.

Aveline's mission is to fight the Templar and Spanish influence in New Orleans and Mexico while simultaneously freeing slaves.

13. Assassin's Creed Unity (1789 - 1794)

The plot is centered around Arno Victor Dorian and is set in Paris between the French Revolution and the Thermidorian Reaction. Arno was raised as a Templar, but he switches to the Brotherhood after the ordered murder of his adopted father.

15. Assassin's Creed Syndicate (1868 AD)

This video game is set during the Victorian era in London and follows twins Jacob and Evie Frye.

After realizing that the church and Monarch are quickly losing their power to the Templar control, the twins fight with an aim to take back the city from them by infiltrating and uniting London's criminal underworld.

Syndicate is the only game in the Assassins Creed game timeline that features siblings and two main characters.

16. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia (1918)
