Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has paid a visit to Gulio local government area of Borno state where Boko Haram insurgents killed a lot of villagers.

There were reports that insurgents murdered at least 70 natives of Faduma Kolomdi village in the state, TVC News reports.

Describing the attack as barbaric, Governor Zulum evacuated about five injured persons in his official convoy to a hospital for immediate treatment.

The governor revealed that one strong point the insurgents are holding on to for now is the fact that they have a hiding place in Chad. He added that the terrorists can be defeated when they are dislodged from the region.

Zulum said: "The only solution to end this massacre is by dislodging the insurgents in the shores of Lake Chad. Doing so will require collaborative regional efforts.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that just hours after Boko Haram insurgents killed a lot of villagers in Gubio, Borno, troops of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, June 10, retaliated in the offensive around Sambisa forest.

Apart from the fact that soldiers of Operation Lafiya Dole neutralised many terrorists in the state, the insurgents' hideout in the Kacha Korle area of the ill-fated forest was destroyed.

This victory for the military was confirmed on Wednesday by Major General John Enenche, the coordinator of the Defence media operations.

In his report, Enenche disclosed that the hideout was always a meeting and staging point for the terrorists. He revealed that the victory was as a result of intelligence gathering by the Air task force that dealt a devastating blow on the location.
