- Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's value have depreciated

- Kylian Mbappe is number one most valuable player at £231m

Although Cristiano Ronaldo is missing in the latest top 50 most valuable transfers, Lionel Messi’s name was also not also mentioned in the top 20 according to CIES Football Observatory’s transfer values.

Likewise, Messi is the most-expensive player aged over 30, even though his value is affected by the mere 12 months remaining on his Barcelona contract.

At the opposite end of the scale is the game's most expensive teenager: Alphonso Davies at £119m.

Just recently, Brazilian legend Cafu weighed into the conversation about who is the better player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002 has faced Ronaldo at club level during AC Milan's clash with Man United.

On the other hand, Cafu and Messi never crossed paths before he fully retired from the game in 2007.

In Cafu's honest opinion, the former Sao Paulo right-back could not differentiate the genius of the Portuguese and Argentine who have won eleven ballon d'Or's between them.

"We’re talking about the two powers of world football. They’ve been at the top for 15 years. "One has won six awards, the other five. It’s so hard to pick between them. They’re both magnificent players," quoted in Goal.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has described his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest player of his generation - shunning Lionel Messi in the process.

The 35-year-old joined the Old Lady from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 and could win his second Serie A title this season.

Only this season, the Portuguese has scored 25 goals in 32 appearances so far - including a streak of 11 goals in 11 successive Serie A games, a run which expired against Inter Milan in March.
