The governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, on Monday, June 1, arrived at the state house to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Daily Trust reports that the governor's visit is coming ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo state governorship primary election scheduled for this month.
Obaseki was spotted in a dark-colored suit with a face mask as he made his way to meet the Nigerian leader.
Though the agenda of the meeting has not yet been made public, it was gathered that Obaseki's visit is aimed at seeking Buhari's intervention in the political conflict between him and Adams Oshiomhole, the APC national chairman.
This is coming just as some APC governors have reportedly arrived at the national secretariat of the party to hold a meeting with the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the fate of Obaseki.
The meeting is a follow-up to a similar one held with the national leader of the party in Lagos. The meeting was held at the National Executive Committee Hall at the party National Secretariat in Abuja, with the national chairman presiding.
The governors present at the meeting include the chairman of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Kebbi state governor, Atiku Bagudu, Ondo state governor – Rotimi Akeredolu, Lagos state – Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gombe state – Mohammed Inuwa – Gombe, Kano State – Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Kwara state – Abdul raham Abdulrasaki.

The governors held the meeting to plead with Tinubu to help Obaseki secure the APC governorship ticket for a second term.
Obaseki has been having disagreements with the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, over the second term ambition of the governor.
A source who confirmed the meeting said the governors were led by Governor Atiku Gbagudu of Kebbi state, who is the chairman of the progressives governors’ forum.
