Buhari plans low-key celebration for fifth anniversary - Presidency

Ahead of the 5th year anniversary of President Muhammadu Buhari in office, the presidency has stated that the first anniversary of the Nigerian leader’s second term will be marked low-keyed.
This was revealed in a statement issued by senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, who explained that narratives of the government’s achievements over the last five years would be showcased digitally.
Shehu went on to note that the past five years of the Buhari-led administration have been full of historic achievements.
He urged all Nigerians to read how the decades-long wishes of the people are being met through the presidential handles.
The presidential spokesman thanked Nigerians for entrusting the country’s government in the hands of President Buhari.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that away from Nigerian politics, the presidency shared some adorable pictures of President Buhari interacting with little children.
Femi Adesina who is Buhari's special adviser on media and publicity shared the pictures to show the fatherly side of of the president as Nigeria marked Children's Day on Wednesday, May 27.
Adesina shared the pictures on his Facebook page with the caption: "Here are some file pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari with Nigerian children. "Let little children come unto me, for of such is the Kingdom of God!"
In a related development, Shehu predicted that President Buhari will be showcased as a COVID-19 hero in Africa at the end of the pandemic.
The presidential spokesperson who made this known in an interview said that after the pandemic not only would Buhari be celebrated in the country, but also across West Africa.
“I will end this conversation with a prediction: by the time this whole epidemic situation is over, this president will be showcased as COVID-19 hero, not only in Nigeria, but in the entire West African sub-region which he leads,” he said.

Similarly, the special adviser on media and publicity to President Buhari said he believes his boss is doing well.
Adesina made the comment via a tweet on Tuesday, May 26, in reaction to an alleged news story making the rounds quoting him wrongly. “In fact, we are lucky to have him at a time like this. All attempts to demonize me will fail,” part of his statement read.
