The federal government of Nigeria has disclosed that three out of the numerous claims of COVID-19 local cure have been found promising.
According to the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, the promising cures have been forwarded to relevant authorities for validation.
This was disclosed by chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha.
Going further, he disclosed that the validation was made by the Federal Ministry of Health after holding a virtual meeting with Nigerian Researchers and Scientists.
“The occurrences in Kano and some other cities have given cause to launch our research initiatives using existing structures and systems in a manner that will build a legacy and prepare Nigeria for any future pandemic.
“As a measure of the importance attached to research and development of local capacity for finding a cure for COVID-19, the Federal Ministry of health held a virtual meeting with a number of researchers and scientists with claims to cure COVID-19.
“Out of the numerous claims, three were found to deserve further investigation and we have forwarded them to the relevant authorities for appropriate review,” the SGF said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that following the lockdown of schools due to the novel coronavirus, the federal government of Nigeria has disclosed that it would soon roll out the course of action for the reopening of these learning institutions.
This was disclosed Mustapha during a briefing on Wednesday, May 27.
He consequently urged local governments, proprietors and all other stakeholders to start making steps that will help in schools reopening.
“I wish to inform Nigerians that the Federal Ministry of Education will roll out measures for the self-reopening of schools.
“We, therefore, use this medium to urge states, local governments, proprietors and all other stakeholders to begin to take steps that will facilitate an early and safe reopening,” he said.
Legit.ng had also reported that as a mother, the first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari has sent a warm message to Nigerian kids as they celebrate Children's Day in lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic.
Aisha, on her Twitter page, said that this year's theme for the celebration is Promoting Girl-child Education for Sustainable Development.
The first lady urged stakeholders not to relent in the efforts that will ensure the education of the girl-child is sustained in terms of quality and scale.
She encouraged children to make profitable use of the lockdown, take their online studies seriously while praying for the re-opening of schools.
