Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo is hoping he can plead with Shanghai Shenhua to allow him to extend his stay at Manchester United beyond the initial expiration date.

The 30-year-old striker moved to Old Trafford on a six months loan deal in late January from the Chinese based club.

His deal was due at the end of this season but the outbreak of deadly coronavirus means he would not stay until the Premier League is concluded.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has however shown interest in keeping the former Super Eagles striker with nine more Premier League games, an FA Cup quarter-final and Europa League last-16 ties to come.

Ighalo could now speak to his parent club in a bid to stay as he wants to add to his eight appearances and four goals so far for the team he supported as a boy.

According to Hargreaves, Ighalo who was a shock loan signing for Man United in January has done enough to be handed a permanent deal.

Ighalo has had a successful loan spell at Man United after arriving from Shanghai Shenhua.
