69 stranded Nigerians evacuated from Lebanon
- Sixty-nine Nigerians who were evacuated from Lebanon have arrived the country
- Those evacuated include 50 trafficked Nigerian girls and 19 others
- The financial and logistic support of the Lebanese government and Lebanese community in Nigeria played a huge part in their evacuation

Fifty female victims of trafficking and 19 other persons who were stranded in Lebanon have been evacuated to Nigeria.
This was disclosed by Nigeria's minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in a tweet via his Twitter account,
According to the minister, the evacuees arrived in the country on Sunday, May 24.
He thanked the Lebanese government and the Lebanese community in Nigeria for their support in ensuring the safe evacuation of the affected persons.
“Profound gratitude to Ambassador Houssam Diad, Lebanese Ambassador in Nigeria and Ambassador Goni Zannabura, Nigerian Ambassador in Lebanon,” he wrote.
A Nigerian identified as Olatunji Oladiran Olanrewaju was spotted in the comment section pleading with the minister to come to the aid of stranded Nigerians in South Africa.
According to him, they have been begging to be evacuated back home for over two months.
A number of Nigerians are stranded in other countries due to lockdown necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.
The federal government has been making efforts to bring them back home.
It was earlier reported that three Nigerians have been stranded at Suvarnabhumi airport in Thailand for the past two months as they could not go into the country nor travel back as a result of coronavirus lockdown.

In response, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) said though everywhere is on lockdown including its mission house in Thailand, it would reach out to the Nigerians.
Meanwhile, some days ago, 292 Nigerians who were stranded in Saudi Arabia were evacuated.
Legit.ng gathered that the flight conveying the evacuees arrived Nigeria on the night of Tuesday, May 19, at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
In other news, all 215 returnees from the UK have been cleared by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), at their Abuja Isolation Center.
According to the clearance certificate from the NCDC, all the returnees tested negative to the coronavirus and have been discharged.
They are now free to join society after completing the mandatory 14 days in isolation.
