Laoluwa Adejayan: Sierra Leone appoints Nigerian as head of Covid-19 task force
- A Nigerian with the name Dr Laoluwa Adejayan has been appointed to lead the Sierra Leonean Covid-19 Task Force
- President Julius of Sierra Leone said that the Nigerian has been dedicated in his work and that was the basis of his new position
- In response to the development, President Muhammadu Buhari said that Laoluwa has indeed proved to be a good ambassador

The Sierra Leonean government has appointed a Nigerian, Dr Laoluwa Adejayan, as the head of its Covid-19 Task Force.
In explaining how the Nigerian is better suited for the position, the government said that they took the action on the basis that Laoluwa’s work in recent years as a foreign medical practitioner has spoken for itself, The Guardian reports.
After the appointment, the government increased his salary to $20,000 (N7,740,200) monthly, a 100% increment over his previous salary.
It should be noted that Adejayan graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso and reportedly did his National Youth Service Corps programme in Bayelsa state.
Also, the president of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, sent a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari informing him about the appointment as he described the Nigerian as a good ambassador.

President Julius said Laoluwa has proved to be a brilliant and dedicated doctor. On the other hand, Buhari congratulated the doctor for representing the country well.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a Nigerian man, Ifeanyi Okpala, studying in the US made the nation really proud by winning a special award for his MS thesis at the University of Alabama Graduate School.
It should be noted that about five months ago or so, Ifeanyi earned his masters degree in flying colours as he completed a 105-page thesis, two journal articles, four conference papers, and had a CGPA of 4.0/4.0.

On the school's Twitter page on Wednesday, May 6, he was announced as the winner of the 2020 department of civil, construction and environmental engineering outstanding MS thesis award.
In other news, Michael Igwe is one of the several US-based Nigerian doctors doing what they can to help solve the coronavirus pandemic.
The Abia-indigene said that creativity in handling coronavirus patients is a very important skill all health workers must have to combat the disease.
Igwe has been tapping into his Christian background and love for church songs in Igbo to help his patients conquer the fears associated with the deadly virus.
“I have been singing song since I was a small child. My mother is a singer too. When I was in Nigeria, I used to lead songs at the church I attended. That was how I embarked on singing even as a medical doctor.
“Our experience at the hospital with this COVID-19 pandemic is that it mostly instills fear into people and sometimes, the fear will be too much for us,” he said.
The Abia-born doctor also spoke about how their medical training is limited in the fight against the scourge, saying that is why he always relies on the Holy Spirit to calm himself.
