President Buhari approves appointment of CMD DG, RMAFC chief

- Mohammed Shehu has been appointed as secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC)

- The appointment of Bitrus Chinoko as the director-general of the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Lagos, was also approved by President Buhari

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, May 11, approved the appointment of Mohammed Bello Shehu as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Shehu's appointment as secretary of RMAFC will take effect from Tuesday, May 19, and for an initial first term of five years.

The Nigerian leader also approved of Bitrus Chinoko's appointment as the director-general of the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Lagos. Chinoko until his appointment was in an acting capacity at the CMD, The Nation reports.

The president's approval for both appointments was announced in a statement signed and released by Willie Bassey, the director of information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Monday, May 11.

The statement reads in part: “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the following new appointments: Mohammad Bello Shehu as Secretary, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) for initial first term of five years with effect from 19th March 2020.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Buhari approved the appointment of Alwan Ali Hassan as the acting managing director for the Bank of Agriculture and the immediate dissolution of the Interim Management Team.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Theodore Ogaziechi, the director information.

Buhari's approval in a letter dated Tuesday, May 5, was conveyed to the minister of agriculture and rural development, Muhammad Sabo Nanono.

Until his appointment, Hassan was chairman/CEO Midrange Universal Biz Ltd. The new acting MD for the Bank of Agriculture is married with children and a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors among others.

Similarly, Buhari approved the appointment of Air Vice-Marshal Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed as the new director-general of the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria (NEMA).

The appointment was announced in a statement released by Willie Bassey, the director of information in the Office of the SGF in a statement on Saturday, May 2.

The appointment took effect from Thursday, April 30, 2020, “for an initial period of four years in accordance with Section 3 of the National Emergency Management Agency Act”.
