Coronavirus: Kwara approves N25,000 daily allowance for frontline health workers

In the spirit of gratitude and responsive leadership, Kwara state government has announced the payment of N25,000 daily for health workers who are at the frontline in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made the pleasant announcement in a statement on Tuesday, May 5, amid the growing clamour for the improved welfare of the health workers nationwide.
According to the governor, the gesture is a show of gratitude towards the efforts of doctors and other medical personnel who are leading the fight against the Covid-19 crisis in the state.
"We have approved N25,000 as daily allowance for medical doctors and varying daily allowance for other categories of health workers involved in our fight against COVID-19.
"This is to show appreciation to health workers as it’s impossible to pay them for their priceless sacrifices,” the governor announced via his Twitter page on Tuesday.
The Kwara government's effort came following the same move by the government of Lagos state amid the pandemic.

It would be recalled that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu increased the hazard allowance of the state health workers tackling Covid-19 from N5,000 to N25,000.
Sanwo-Olu gave the approval for the increment on the allowance as Lagos intensifies efforts in the battle against coronavirus.
The increment was done to motivate the state health workers who have been at the forefront in the efforts towards fighting the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Kogi government said that the state is under pressure to declare the presence of coronavirus as the pandemic spreads across states of the federation.
The north-central state is one of the two out of the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that have not reported any case of Covid-19 pandemic.
