COVID-19: Buhari receives briefing on Nigeria’s situation from health minister and NCDC boss

- This was disclosed by Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant to the president on new media
The minister of health, Osagie Ehanire, and director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Chikwe Ihekweazu, on Sunday, April 26, met with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Legit.ng gathered that the Nigerian leader received a briefing from the duo on the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation in Nigeria at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This was contained in a tweet by Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant to the president on new media, via his Tweeter handle, @BashirAhmaad.
The meeting was used by Ehanire and Ihekweazu to give Buhari a report amid the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Nigeria has recorded 87 new cases of coronavirus pandemic as Lagos state took the lead with 33 while Borno, Osun, and Katsina have 18, 12, and 9 respectively.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on the evening of Saturday, April 25 via its Twitter handle @NCDCgov. Other states included Katsina (9), Kano (4), Ekiti (4), Edo (3), Bauchi (3) and Imo (1).
The NCDC said that as at 11:55 pm on April 25, there were 1182 confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in Nigeria.
The federal agency also noted that 222 COVID-19 cases have been discharged so far while 35 deaths have been recorded as at Saturday, April 25.

Similarly, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has asked the federal government to scale down to partial mode with relaxed restriction in the ongoing lockdown.
In a letter dated Friday, April 24, and addressed to Mr. Boss Mustapha, the NGF requested for, subject to the president’s approval, internal free movement in all the states, but with restrictions on large gatherings.
Mustapha is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and also the chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
