CBN office gutted by fire in Plateau state

A fire outbreak occurred in the Jos branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Plateau state on Tuesday, April 21.
The CBN which confirmed the incident in a tweet said the incident was minor and was promptly contained.
“Minor fire outbreak at the Jos branch of Central bank of Nigeria, promptly contained today, April 21, 2020,” the apex bank tweeted.
The fire incident adds to the number of the recent fire outbreaks that have occurred at government offices lately.
Days ago, a section of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) complex in Abuja was gutted by fire.
The Cable had reported that the director of publicity and voter education of the INEC, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, confirmed the incident on Friday, April 17.
Legit.ng gathered that he said the fire only affected the office of the director of the election and party monitoring in the building.
In another incident, part of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) headquarters in Abuja was gutted by fire on Wednesday, April 15.
Similarly, a section of the office of the accountant-general of the federation was also razed by fire some days ago.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) said it successfully extinguished the fire outbreak at the office of the AGF.
The FFS's public relation’s office in a post on its official Facebook page showed the building and its officials as well as their fire fighting trucks in current pictures.
The building tagged “Treasury House” is located beside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command in the Garki area of Abuja, the nation's capital.
Meanwhile, the presidential committee on the impact of the coronavirus on Nigeria’s economy has disclosed that the Nigerian economy is facing serious challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The committee made the disclosure on Thursday, April 2, after a meeting with President Buhari in Abuja where the president was briefed on current happenings around the world due to COVID-19 and its impact on the country’s economy, Vanguard reports.
Timipre Sylva, the minister of state for petroleum resources, who is also a member of the committee, said the Nigerian economy was not in the best shape due to falling oil prices caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, who is also a member of the committee, said the coronavirus had impacted the global economy and may even lead to recession globally.
