The social media aide to the president, Lauretta Onochie, has reacted to a video of some Ogun state residents defying the social distancing directive of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Nigerians have been advised by the NCDC to maintain social distancing to check the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The federal government has also imposed restriction of movement in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja following the rising cases of COVID-19 in these states.
But some Nigerians have been violating the restriction order of the federal government.
Onochie when reacting to a video of some Ogun residents defying the social distancing directive, stated that some people in the country do not take the COVID-19 warning seriously.
She questioned why some people were failing to adhere to the social distancing directive.
Onochie stated that the behavior of the violators may give backing to the warning by Melinda Gates that Africa might be hit hard by the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the presidency has lambasted a former member of the Senate, Dino Melaye, for sharing an old video to deceive Nigerians and cast aspersion on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration during the trying period of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Legit.ng reports that Melaye was called out on Thursday, April 16, by the personal assistant to the president on new media, Bashir Ahmad, on his official Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.

The presidential aide accused Melaye of sharing an old video that was recorded in 2019 in order to create more fear among Nigerians at a time of national emergency.
Ahmad, however, asked if the former lawmaker derive joy in adding to the problems being faced by Nigerians during the COVID-19 trial.
