COVID-19: Hoodlums go on rampage protesting President Buhari’s lockdown extension

- Some communities in Lagos state were on fire after the president's nationwide broadcast

- Hoodlums invaded Shasha, Orisunbare, Idimu and Ejigbo attacking residents and robbing

- President Buhari had announced the extension of the lockdown in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun states for another two weeks

A report by The Sun indicates that some parts of Lagos state were on fire on Monday, April 13, following President Muhammadu Buhari’s announcement to extend the lockdown by another two weeks.

Recall that the Nigerian leader addressed the country in a nationwide broadcast where he announced that the initial two-week lockdown of the FCT, Lagos and Ogun states would be extended by an additional fourteen days.

The extension didn't sit well with some aggrieved youths who started rioting as areas such as Shasha, Orisunbare, Idimu, and Ejigbo were on fire.

The thugs who appeared to be upset with Buhari's announcement took to the streets and started attacking innocent residents of the area. They were also robbing, breaking into almost every shop and looted the goods.

The incident is similar to the wave of recent robbery attacks being witnessed in some other areas in Lagos and Ogun state since Sunday, April 12.

This is coming after, some hoodlums reportedly robbed Lagos residents following the lockdown imposed in the state over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suspected robbers armed with different kinds of weapons on Sunday, April 12, reportedly invaded Mangoro, Ogba, Agege, Iyana Ipaja and Dopemu areas of Lagos.

A resident in Aluminium village in Dopemu told the Cable that the robbers came in about 30 motorbikes and 105 buses around 7 pm and broke into shops and houses.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Buhari extended the lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun states for another two weeks. This was contained in the president's address to the nation on Monday, April 13.
